Curriculum Vitae

I’m Lacy Hale, an Appalachian artist proud to call southeastern Kentucky my home. I knew by the age of five that I wanted to be an artist, a path that eventually took me to the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn. At twenty, I returned home to Kentucky to build my career among the hollers that shaped me.

My murals can be found across Kentucky and into Virginia. I work with people and communities all across the region to design and paint murals for their towns. These public art pieces are reflections of local identity, pride, and the stories towns want to share with others. I also do mural consulting to help towns prepare surfaces and use the right materials so their unique art can last for generations to come.

I’m the co-founder of EpiCentre Arts in Whitesburg, Kentucky, and my work has been exhibited across the state and a traveling Smithsonian exhibit. I’ve been honored with awards, grants, and nominations from organizations I admire.

I’m also the creator of the “No Hate in My Holler” slogan and design.

No matter the project, my goal is the same: to make art accessible, keep it rooted in place, and honor the people who live here.
