Jenkins Mural Project Complete!

by admin

Lacy Hale and artist Pam Meade, who assisted her on this project, at the mural unveiling in 2016.

After six months of work and with assistance from over 65 community members aged 7 to 87, the first of two murals in Jenkins are complete. The unveiling was on a cold day in December of 2016. Thanks to Appalshop for including Lacy in this project!

Jenkins Community Mural Project!

by admin

Work has started on the Jenkins Community Mural Project. I was commissioned to do this mural by Appalshop, Inc. through a grant they received. My mural is one piece of a much broader project including production of several large photo banners, a walking/driving tour of the town of Jenkins, and another mural by fellow artist Pam Meade. The mural is being painted on nine 5' x 10' Alupoly panels to be installed later at an already determined location. I have designed the mural in a paint by number system so anyone from the community, no matter their level of talent, will be comfortable with lending a hand and picking up a paint brush. We have had some participants as young as six and seven and as old as 64 attend. We have been working nights and weekends to make sure most who would like to join will be able to find the time. To see the progress, you can check back here or search #jenkinsmurals on Facebook and Instagram. Also, here is a short news story done on the mural in the beginning painting stages: http://www.ekbtv.com/news/community-lends-their-brushes-brighten-jenkins
